FRITSCH Planetary Mill PULVERISETTE 5/4 classic line
OVERVIEW
Ideal for large quantities
The Planetary Mill PULVERISETTE 5 classic line with 4 working stations delivers fast and reliable, due to the particularly high-energy effect of the grinding balls, loss-free grinding results of hard, medium-hard, soft, brittle, tough and moist materials down to colloidal fineness. Depending on the desired final fineness, can the grinding be performed dry, in suspension or in inert gas.
Besides for comminution, the Planetary Mill can be utilized for mixing and homogenizing of emulsions and pastes or for mechanical activation and alloying in material research.
WORKING PRINCIPLE
Comminution according to the Planetary Principle
The comminution of the material to be ground takes place primarily through the high-energy impact of grinding balls. To achieve this, the grinding bowl, containing the material to be ground and grinding balls, rotates around its own axis on a main disk whilst rotating rapidly in the opposite direction. At a certain speed, the centrifugal force causes the ground sample material and grinding balls to separate from the inner wall of the grinding bowl. The grinding balls then cross the bowl at high speed and further grind the sample material by impact against the opposite bowl wall. In addition, impact between the balls themselves on the sample material adds to the size reduction process.
Due to the rotational speed of the main disk – up to 400 rpm – achieves the PULVERISETTE 5 classic line a centrifugal acceleration of up to 22 g.

SAFE GRINDING BOWL CLAMPING
Reproducible grinding results and absolutely safe grinding bowl clamping
The constant transmission ratio, the regulated rotational speed and precision quartz timing, ensure exactly reproducible grinding results. The Safe-Lock System, which is delivered with a torque wrench, enables simple and safe clamping of the grinding bowls - absolutely risk-free.
MEASURING OF GAS PRESSURE AND TEMPERATURE
GTM – Gas Pressure and Temperature Measuring System
The Planetary Mill PULVERISETTE 5 classic line can be combined with the GTM-System for measuring of the gas pressure and temperature during grinding. This turns your mill into an analytical measuring system.
APPLICATIONS / SOLUTIONS
-
INFLUENCE OF PROPERTIES OF GRINDING BOWLS IN THE PLANETARY SYSTEM
A clean and constant wear on the inner grinding bowl surface is a question of the amount of grinding balls and size, material amount and size (coarse or fine), the grinding condition like wet or dry grinding, the grinding duration and the adjusted rotations of the planetary system.
-
FROM “BOULDER” TO NANO-PARTICLES
Medium-hard to hard materials with edge lengths up to 95 mm can be pre-crushed with the FRITSCH Jaw Crusher PULVERISETTE 1 so an additional fine comminution with many FRITSCH mills is possible.
-
During a dry grinding, often only after a short grinding period hygroscopic material tends to stick. A second factor causing this is the static charge respectively adhesive powers of fine particles.
-
CRUSHING CONCRETE COARSELY AND FINE
Concrete is a complex material, which its characteristics due to its composition and as a result of the systematic addition of additives can be adjusted very differentiated. However, this results in the demand to monitor this composition for two reasons: in order to ensure the desired useful properties and also to ensure the quality of the mixture.

PIGMENT PROCESSING: THE ISOLATION OF THE NATURALLY BEAUTIFUL
Mankind has always enjoyed enduring works of art. The particles of the pigments have always been playing a major role. For example, the oldest cave paintings still impress us today. One of the most renowned experts for the production of historical pigments is Dr. Kremer from Aichstetten (Bavaria, Germany). FRITSCH laboratory mills are of great importance in Dr. Kremer's pigment processing.

ACCESSORIES
Please note: For the Planetary Mill PULVERISETTE 5/4 classic line, you require at least 4 grinding bowls of your choice and the corresponding number of grinding balls. The grinding bowl material must also be harder than the material to be ground. In normal cases, grinding bowls and balls of the same material are used. To shorten the grinding time, larger or heavier grinding bowls and grinding balls with a higher density and correspondingly higher impact energy can be used. Please take note of the useful capacity, this is not identical with the bowl volume!
GRINDING BOWLS

Please select 4 grinding bowls, which are offered in the sizes 500 ml, 250 ml and 80 ml to perfectly match your sample volume. The useful capacity of the grinding bowls can be found in the selection aid. Grinding bowl 80 ml: One grinding bowl holder can be equipped with 2 bowls 80 ml or 1 bowl 80 ml using an adapter to mount the bowls on top of each other.
For the best grinding results in each individual case, all grinding bowls are available in 6 different materials, thus directly preventing contamination of the samples as a result of undesired abrasion.
